The following are some examples of our activities in support of preschools, secondary schools and universities.
We support elementary and secondary schools
Many of our employees volunteer their time and talents to school projects.
- Some of our employees in Britain sponsor the Science Club at a school in Lincoln; once a week they show students that math and physics are “cool” subjects and can also be a lot of fun.
- At our U.S. locations in Orlando, Florida, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, our experts provide tutoring services and practical, hands-on assistance to students conducting experiments and scientific projects.
Cooperation ventures with universities
We maintain very good relationships with professors of science and technology, and support universities in many countries worldwide. Some of our experts are guest lecturers at universities. We also support highly talented students by awarding them stipends. In Britain, for example, we provide scholarships to mechanical engineering students.
Assisting disadvantaged groups
Siemens Power Generation operates all over the world and so our corporate teams are frequently international and multicultural in their composition. We embrace cultural diversity as an enrichment of our daily work. That is why we support minority groups in those countries in which they may face particular difficulties in gaining access to education. In the United States, for instance, Siemens Power Generation supports the organizations associated with INROADS, which are committed to providing quality education to minorities.
Plant tours
Our employees regularly give tours of the company’s plants, including the renowned plants in Berlin and Mülheim a.d.R., to students of secondary schools and universities. During these tours the students learn a great deal about Siemens Power Generation, including its wide range of turbomachinery products and the technical challenges involved in manufacturing them.
