Wheelabrator and Advanced Burner Technologies now known as Siemens Environmental Systems and Services
As of October 1, 2007, Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control Inc., Advanced Burner Technologies (ABT) and Boiler Technology Services (BTS) now are known as Siemens Environmental Systems and Services, which was established to address customers’ need for clean air technologies as part of a total plant solution.
Environmental concerns and demand for increased efficiency of power generation products are fueling a growing global demand for pollution prevention and controls. Siemens continuously seeks to address these needs by finding ways to provide cleaner, more efficient sources of generating power.
Since Siemens’ acquisition of Wheelabrator in 2005, its sales and headcount have more than doubled. Future growth is expected to continue at a fast pace due to strong U.S. demand and plans for global expansion. Additionally, the part of the business formerly known as Wheelabrator will establish a larger parts and service business to build upon the strong demand for its products.
ABT was acquired in 2006. It provides highly effective low NOx burners and combustion modifications for coal-fired steam generators. BTS' boiler maintenance, upgrade and pressure part replacement services help to improve boiler efficiency and lower emissions at the source.
