SGT-700 achieves 100,000 running hours

SGT-700 gas turbine
The Siemens industrial gas turbine SGT-700 reached the first major milestone of commercial operation by achieving 100,000 running hours. The fleet leader alone has accumulated 20,000 hours of operation. Launched in 1999, first verified in 2001 and operational in 2004, the SGT-700, with a rated capacity of 30 megawatts (MW), has proved its reliability and successfully met all practical tests for operation with normal natural gas. Performance results have been unusually high for a new machine. The five turbines most recently sold have all generated power with 600kW more than nominal rating, the equivalent of 2 percent output.
Siemens has sold 25 SGT-700’s up until now. Seven turbines are in operation around the world, in use onshore and offshore, for electricity generation or as mechanical drives, on single or dual fuel. They have proved their reliability in producing power in various applications and under different ambient conditions. After a period of testing during partial release, the SGT-700 is now approved for full sales release. The remaining turbines under order and manufacturing, yet to be installed at customer sites, are due for delivery during the next 18 months.
