The SGT5-8000H gas turbine, newly developed by Siemens, is the world`s largest and most efficient gas turbine with a capacity of 340 megawatts (MW). After the test phase in Irsching near Ingolstadt in Germany this unit will be expanded to become a highly efficient combined cycle power plant with an output of 530 megawatts (MW) and an efficiency rating of more than 60 percent. The photo shows Irsching 4 gas-fired power plant where the SGT5-8000H will be tested.
