Siemens SGT-800 industrial gas turbine – now with more power and higher efficiency
Erlangen, Germany, July 30, 2007
Siemens can now offer the SGT-800 gas turbine with a new rating of 47 megawatts (MW) instead of the previous 45 MW. For simple cycle applications, this increases electrical efficiency from the current 37 percent to 37.5 percent. In combined cycle power plants, output is increased from 64 MW to 66 MW and efficiency from 53 percent to 54 percent.
The SGT-800 gas turbine was launched in 1997 as a 43 MW machine under the name GTX100. Continual enhancement of turbine performance has been a keystone of Siemens product strategy ever since. Comprehensive test programs formed the basis for optimization of the first and second stage of the turbine cooling system. This improvement together with the increased airflow from the compressor yielded increased powerand enhanced efficiency.
This enhancement is also offered to existing customers. The modified special components are fully interchangeable. Operators of open- and combined cycle power plants and CHP plants can benefit from the increased output and enhanced efficiency for reduced life cycle cost.
The Power Generation Group (PG) of Siemens AG is one of the premier companies in the internationalpower generation sector.
