Example of a Steam Turbine Reheat Solution in a WtE Plant
One highly efficient solution for such waste-to-energy (or Energy from Waste) power plants is the SST-700RH reheat steam turbine which consists of one geared high-pressure (HP) module and one direct-drive low-pressure (LP) module. Proven standardization ensures low investment and life cycle costs. The SST-700RH has a high volume flow and a large exhaust area (up to 9.6 meters) to achieve maximal performance.

The SST-700RH reheat solution was selected by Amsterdam’s Waste & Energy Company for its 4th generation WFPP (Waste Fired Power Plant) in 2003. With the SST-700RH at the heart of the process, the plant was designed to burn 900,000 tonnes of waste per year at an efficiency of 22%. During 2007, this will have increased to 1.5 million tonnes at an efficiency of 30%.
